Michaela with the occipital nerve stimulator
After several years of being told by doctors that there was no hope of relief from her TBI and fibromyalgia, we were finally directed to Dr. Thimineur with the Comprehensive Pain and Headache Center.
Dr. Thimineur and his associates are among a few folks researching the use of occipital nerve stimulation as a treatment to several different ailments, including severe fibromyalgia.
Michaela is shown here with her trial setup -- two wires stuck inside the back of her head, connected to an external controller. This trial period is run for two weeks to determine the patient's responsiveness.
And, yes, Michaela did respond. She's looking forward to having the permanent implantation, and a bit of recovery (finally).
