Seen in the Courant:
Surveys of downtown New London shops, restaurants and other businesses found that an overwhelming majority said their sales increased during the visits. Many said they’d be willing to increase their hours and invest in more promotions to draw future cruise ship travelers.
They also suggested sprucing up downtown New London to give those tourists a good first impression of the region.
As difficult as it might seem to think of Connecticut as a cruise ship destination, it’s nice to see some parts of the state realizing that tourism is good for business.
