Memphis, as it appears on some long range maps (through 2020) I obtained from the Memphis/Shelby County Office of Planning & Development. The outer beltway (SPR 385 / MS 304) is complete, and I-69 has arrived in town. I personally disagree with the routing of I-69 through the heart of Memphis, but that’s the current school of thought.
The yellow highlighting represents portions of Memphis-area freeways targeted for HOV lanes. The pink lines represent a light rail system included in the 2020 plan. The line out to Germantown & Collierville seems like an excellent idea, considering the congestion along Poplar Ave (US 72), but the north-south line seems a little odd, given what I remember about the area. I would think that a Cordova-West Memphis line would be more feasible than a Millington-Southaven line (especially considering the proposed routing).
