like your decision on routing. main key is to make one system for interstates and us highways, if it means to add a few state routes as well. My thoughts wasn’t like yours as all 1-2dis will be US highways where they become 1-2dus. I was also looking to the factor of losing a lot of the “children” us highways. I saw the comment about the spur and loops, personally I believe that spurs and loops should be state maintained because 90-95% of the traffic on those routes is used by locals anyway except for very few occasions, I-475 in GA, I-610 in New Orleans where the “loop” is shorter than the mainline.
