Hello, my name is Mike and I’m a roadgeek. (”Hi, Mike.”)
Wikipedia defines “roadgeek” as “a person that is interested in roads as a hobby”. Personally, I think the definition doesn’t satisfactorily convey the level of enthusiasm some roadgeeks have about their hobby, but such is life.
For several years, I maintained a collection of exit lists and lists of lists known as Highway Heaven. However, my time and energy to maintain them waned as the internet community of roadgeeks formed and grew. My old collection is currently preserved here.
However, I do still have a few items of roadgeek interest up at this site:
Highway Features Blog
Minor items that pique my roadgeek interest, maintained blog-style
Memphis Freeways
A collection of maps summarizing the history of Memphis’ freeway system — past, present, and future
Roadgeek Fonts
A few fonts I put together to create roadsign graphcs.
A Modest Proposal on Highway Renumbering
My "modest proposal" is a bit of roadgeekery I’ve been working on in drips and drabs for years. I’ve decided to start converting my scribbles over to HTML. This section of the website is perpetually incomplete. However, there’s enough here that other roadgeeks might find it interesting.
I-891, The Farmington Valley Turnpike
While I’m dreaming up things that will never happen, might as well dream up something closer to home. This describes a fantasy toll road that would fill in the gap in freeways on the northwest of Hartford, Connecticut.
My County Collection
A map showing which counties I’ve visited in the U.S. and Canada
My Clinched Freeways
The list of interstates I’ve "clinched" (another roadgeek hobby)
