(Via Jeff Masters’ blog at
Wunderground) NOAA has released its 2006 Atlantic
hurricane season forecast, calling for 13-16 named storms, 8-10 hurricanes, and 4-6 major hurricanes.
Dr. Masters also provides a summary of the other major hurricane forecasts to date:
- Klotzbach & Gray: 17 named storms, 9 hurricanes,
5 intense hurricanes - Cuba’s National Weather Institute: 15 named storms, 9 hurricanes
- Tropical Storm Risk: 15 named storms, 8 hurricanes, 3.6
intense storms
Here’s hoping that we get off easy this year, and all these storms turn out to be “fish storms”.
