Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore on Thursday called for a boycott of the state of Connecticut in reaction to Sen. Joe Lieberman’s (I-Conn.) opposition to key provisions of healthcare reform legislation.[…]
Moore focused his anger on the Connecticut voters who reelected Lieberman in favor of liberal candidate Ned Lamont (D-Conn.) in the 2006 elections. He tweeted:
People of Connecticut: What have u done 2 this country? We hold u responsible. Start recall of Lieberman 2day or we’ll boycott your state.
Weren’t Michael Moore’s 15 minutes up a decade ago?
I wonder if someone will mention to him:
- Connecticut isn’t exactly one of those places that people want to go to. True, we have Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun…but those technically are on sovereign tribal lands, rather than Connecticut proper. Boycotting Connecticut, of all places, seems kind of pointless.
- Connecticut doesn’t have a legal mechanism to recall Senators. The state legislature is out of session, so that arguable lack won’t be remedied before probably next June…by which time political tides in the Nutmeg State will probably be focused on filling the vacancy Grandma Jodi is leaving in the Governor’s Mansion, and on trying to replace Dodd in the Senate.
- Quite a few people in Connecticut wouldn’t mind boycotting Michael Moore. Turnabout is fair play, I guess.
