Some Folks Still Taking Rumors About Obama Too Seriously

For the past couple of weeks, the three most-visited pages on this site have been:

The first two are not unusual – they have consistently drawn the most traffic on this site – but the last item has been a sign of the times, I guess.

The comments on the post have been….interesting.

A couple of thoughts come to mind on the phenomenon:

First…does no one lean about Occam’s Razor anymore?  The simplest answers are usually the most correct, and complicated, long-term conspiracy is virtually impossible to keep secret.

If we could harvest the energy wasted in believing in and spreading conspiracy theory and the like, and put it to productive use, we’d be able to transition off petroleum and become a net energy exporter!

Second: how much do you want to bet that the folks who are hung up over Obama’s citizenship are highly correlated with those who still believe that Saddam had something to do with 9/11?

Third: I also wonder if there is a certain degree of correlation among this crowd and those who cried against making any negative comments about President Bush in the wake of 9/11.  “We should unify behind the Commander-in-Chief now that we’re at war!” was the cry.

If such a correlation exists…well, wouldn’t it be a bit disingenuous to change the tune with a change in administration?
