Thoughts For The Morning

Thoughts For The Morning

26 September 2008 · No Comments

Let’s see – when I left work yesterday afternoon, there were reports that Congress had reached a compromise on the über-bailout.  Then I got home, and heard that one wing of the GOP had decided to defend free-market ideals to their dying breaths.   Overnight, my wife’s WaMu credit card magically rebranded itself with a Chase logo.  And, while getting ready for work this morning, I was treated to a shouting match on CBS between Barney Frank and Richard Shelby, after having heard talking heads natter on about McCain’s lack of efficacy in Washington yesterday.

I could go on a rambling rant, but I shall constrain myself to just three observations:

1.  I am amazed that there isn’t more of an anti-incumbent sentiment in this country right now.

2.  To any political staff trolling the ’net looking for public sentiment: Remember, sometimes even a bad solution is better than no solution.

3.  At least we have a nice debate scheduled for tonight to enlighten…or at least entertain…us.  Of course, that entertainment might be the uniqueness of one of the two major candidates refusing to attend, but it should be entertainment nonetheless.   (If I were Obama, I would see if Warren Buffet were available to do stand-up tonight, just in case it’s all on Obama’s shoulders to fill 90 minutes of prime-time programming.)
