Over the past few months, it seems like many folks not associated with or beholden to the corn clique of the agribusiness industry have started to realize that biofuels relying on food crops — corn in particular — might not be such a good idea.
For example, consider this graphic which appeared in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:
Can we quit drinking the ethanol kool-aid now? (Although, the algae line looks interesting. I wonder what the catch is….)

Only a complete idiot could believe that our food crops can ever replace our thirst for petroleum. The problem is we don’t pay enough for fuel as is obvious when that escalade passes you on the highway doing 85 miles an hour. We have the resources to meet all our petroleum needs in the liquification of coal but should we do it without first taking theses gass guzzler lovers to the woodshed. I say do it but put a heavier tax on fuel to make sure people start to smarten up. Your license plate should be scanned and if it is tied to a vehicle below 27mpg the tax should be tripled.
