So, tell me again about how that impenetrable airport security is supposed to keep us safe?
From the BBC:
Four people were arrested after unfurling a banner from the top of the British Airways Airbus A320, which had arrived from Manchester.[...]
The move came as protesters were gathering in Westminster on Monday to oppose plans to expand the airport.[...]
Greenpeace said protesters put a banner reading “Climate Emergency - No Third Runway” over the plane’s tailfin at about 0945 GMT.
Is it wrong I feel a sudden urge to hop across the pond to see the site of this nefarious deed, thereby aggravating the problem the protesters were protesting against?

I recently returned from Guatemala. We flew Guatemala City - Houston - Wisconsin/New Jersey. We had people from 2 groups with us.
So this one guy errantly carried his pocket knife with him to the airport. We had been working all week building a school, so it had been normal to be carrying tools with you. Not only did he go through primary security in Guatemala City, but there, he was pulled for a secondary screening (he did NOT set off any detectors). Now I’ll give you, this was a small pocket knife. It didn’t set off the metal detectors or the hand patting and hand wanding.
So in the states, we pass through customs and immigration, no prob. But we have to pass our bags and ourselves through security again. The knife passes through in the states also without a problem.
I believe security is more to make us feel good than to actually be fully safe. This knife was very small, but it could have hurt someone. But a larger one could have been made out of a hard plastic or ceramic. I was astonished this happened.
Another in our group brought something through the border that shouldn’t have been permitted (dirt from a construction site). They didn’t catch anything this trip…
