With the Iowa caucuses kicking off as I type (and my wife having hidden the remote controls), I’m left to notice that the Courant is reporting that the ballot order for the 5 February primary has been established.
Per the Courant, the Dems’ order will be:
- Obama
- Kucinich
- Gravel
- Richardson
- Edwards
- Dodd
- Biden
- Clinton
- “Uncommitted”
On the GOP ballot, the order is to be:
- Giuliani
- Thompson
- Romney
- McCain
- Hunter
- Ron Paul
- Huckabee
- Keyes
- “Uncommitted”
I hadn’t thought about the “uncommitted” option. I may have to revise my thoughts about voting for Paul on the basis of supporting a “individual liberty / economic conservatism” message in the media, since media coverage seems to have been hung up on the Cult of Paul.
Of course, while some local pundits are making a fuss over ballot order, I can’t help but question just how significant order is. After all, Lieberman did win his Senate race, despite the “Connecticut for Lieberman” party line being in 9th position on the ballot. True, he felt a need to advertise where to look for his name on the ballot, but given his margin of victory…I don’t think he was hurt.
