What I Learned Last Night

What I Learned Last Night

Connecticut is high on “first major snow” hysteria today.   At my place, the local weather personalities’ prognostication is for a measly 8 inches to fall, but the state seems to be acting as if it’s the blizzard of the century, with schools not even bothering to attempt a half-day today.

True to my procrastinating nature, I converted my tractor from mower/leaf mulcher to snow-thrower after work last night, just in time for the storm.

I realized a couple of things as I was wrapping up around 10:30….

  1. Such a job is probably best done during daylight, rather than at night.   While the 100W-equivalent CFL bulbs outside the house and in the garage, plus a couple of flashlights help illuminate the situation….visibility was annoying.

  2. When the temperatures have been around freezing for a few days, even black asphalt becomes awfully cold to lay upon after a couple of hours.

Oh well.  That lesson is over.   This evening I get to have fun throwing snow.  :)
