Word of the Year—w00t

12 December 2007 · No Comments

It must be December. We’re starting to get the “(blank) of the Year” pronouncements.

For example, consider Merriam Webster’s word of the year:

w00t (interjection)

expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word “yay”

w00t! I won the contest!

Those dead English teachers whose corpses didn’t disintegrate from grave-spinning in the wake of 2006 word of the year (”truthiness”) have surely been dusted at the recognition of the entry of l33t speak into the vernacular.
