The AP has called the race, with 64% of the Mississippi’s precincts reporting in:
- Mike Chaney (R): 55%
- Gary Anderson (D): 45%
Gary Anderson, is of course, the candidate that was receiving heavy support from Dickie Scruggs, in his campaign to take down Commissioner Dale as part of Scruggs’ post-Katrina war on the insurance industry.
This would mark Scruggs’ second defeat today. Earlier in the day, a federal circuit court of appeals handed down a ruling in Tuepeker v. State Farm, a case which challenged homeowners contract language and the industry stance on wind-versus-water in hurricane claims.
