The Downside of Being A Professional Roadgeek

I know a few folks who would love to be able to make a career out of roadgeeking. It’s a shame that such a career wouldn’t go over well with paranoid law enforcement officials.

Seen at TollRoads News:

Three Cintra employees doing a photographic survey of facilities along the Pennsylvania Turnpike were taken into custody for a short while by state police Tuesday afternoon and questioned. They had their cameras, camera cards, laptops and CDs examined. Police and the Turnpike had received reports from motorists of “suspicious activity” and treated it as a case of possible terrorist surveillance.

The three were taken in for questioning midway along the Mainline west of Harrisburg. They told the police they were preparing a photographic record of several toll facilities from New Jersey west to Chicago for their company which operates tollroads in Chicago, Indiana and Toronto. They said there was another three person Cintra team doing similar survey work elsewhere.
