Site Updates

Those of you who follow my site by visiting it, rather than just via RSS feed are now probably aware that I’ve been playing with the look-and-feel of my site again.

I’m still in the process of fine-tuning / cleaning up (standard apologies apply), but I thought I was far enough along to move the new theme into production.

I’ll likely create a special page explaining the changes, but the short version is this: Earlier this year, there was some noise about the amount of electricity being wasted around the world because of web-designers’ tendency to work off of a black-text-on-white-background color scheme, given that white is a horribly inefficient color to display on a CRT screen. Someone even went so far as to calculate that Google causes 750 megawatt-hours of electricity per year to be wasted.

In response, some enterprising souls came up with a color palette called “Emergy-C” which represents an attempt of having an attractive color scheme using hues that can be displayed on CRTs more efficiently.

Around that time, I started running into issues with the service hosting this site running into load issues, causing me to look for ways to get this site/blog to render a bit more efficiently.

Thus, we have the new look-and-feel of this site.

Like I said, I’m still tweaking and cleaning up. However, if you notice anything horribly weird going on with the new theme, please let me know.
