Some 17 Year-Old Nutmeggers to Receive Suffrage?

CT Local Politics reports:

[T]he GAE today unanimously approved a constitutional amendment pushed by Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz that would allow 17 year olds to vote in primaries should they turn 18 by the time of the general election. The amendment will now be addressed by the full General Assembly.

I’ve got to admit, it’s an idea that I like. If primaries can be viewed as votes leading up to the “real” one, why shouldn’t all folks who would be able to legally participate in the real vote not also be able to participate in the preliminaries?
