This is the site of the horrible tragedy recently where a bus full of baseball players accidentally took the left-hand exit out of the HOV lane, and then plunged off the overpass onto the highway below.

The AJC has mentioned some of the improvements to the interchange that are to be made to hopefully discourage future sleeping bus drivers from repeating the tragedy:

The immediate changes include markings on the pavement like the word “EXIT” near the HOV diamond, bigger stop-ahead signs and stop signs at the top of the ramp, widening the dotted line that cuts off the exit from the HOV lane and making it yellow, and raised reflectors laid down in a line to bring attention to the new pavement markings and give drivers the feel of a rumble strip.

Of those, I suspect only the quasi-rumble-strip reflectors might have made a difference. Their addition is probably not a bad idea.
