Bush Budget 2008

Bush Budget 2008

6 February 2007 · No Comments

As you’ve probably seen by now, in all the usual media sources, Bush has sent his proposed budget for FY 2008 to Congress.

My “favorite” parts:

  • A 10% increase in defense spending in Iraq and Afghanistan, with a significant reduction in 2009 and nothing budgeted in 2010 and beyond.

  • In spite of his calls to reform Medicare and Social Security, the only substantive change proposed is personal accounts, again. And…

  • A 10% cut in federal spending on education.

I suspect that this isn’t going to fly in the halls of Congress.

So, does anyone want to take any bets on how far into FY 08 it will be before a budget is actually set?
