The Tennessean is running an article on the closure of the Memphis Pyramid, an iconic venue on the north side of downtown Memphis made redundant with the opening of the new FedEx arena, home to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Apparently Memphis is close to signing an agreement with BassPro for them to make use of the Pyramid. This leads to the following comment appearing in the comments section of the story:
The Pyramid is one of, if not THE most distinctive buildings in Tennessee. While installing a Bass Pro Shop, a temple of redneckery, in a structure that models the tombs of kings boggles the mind, I guess I can put up with it if doing so keeps The Pyamid from following the fate of so many other great buildings in Tennessee–becoming a parking lot.
