A few days ago I mentioned that the Army Corps of Engineers has identified many levees in need of immediate remediation.
The ACOE has published the list.
In my neck of the woods, the two levees on the list include the Connecticut River levees at East Hartford and West Springfield.
Also on the list are many agricultural levees near Sacramento. Those levees’ presence on the list isn’t too surprising. What is surprising is the silence accompanying the pronouncement. I would have hoped that some progress would have been made on strengthening levees long known to have issues.
