As seen at Insurance Journal:
St. Paul Travelers, which had said in December it would not renew many commercial insurance policies in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, is scaling back on that plan, Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon said Jan. 4.
“They’re going to back away from that stated intention of non-renewing 80 percent of our commercial business,” Donelon told the New Orleans City Council.[...]
“They are still going to non-renew a significant portion, but they are going to stay on 60 percent of our commercial business in this area,” Donelon said.
The article doesn’t mention that part of the significance of the decision is due to St. Paul Travelers being the number 1 or number 2 commercial writer in the area.
