The GOP Class of 1994 — Where Are They Now

3 November 2006 · No Comments

Today’s Wall Street Journal includes a featurette (subscriber link) listing the Republican Senators and Representatives that won their first seats in the Republican Revolution of 1994.

You may recall that one of the GOP’s tools that year was the “Contract With America”, a provision of which was a 3-term limit for elected officials.

Therefore, as a public service, I offer the following list of Congressmen who won their tickets to Washington relying in part on the 3-term limit, but are now running for their fifth terms:

  • John Shadegg (R-AZ)
  • J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ)
  • George Radanovich (R-CA)
  • Dave Weldon (R-FL)
  • Charlie Norwood (R-GA)
  • Jerry Weller (R-IL)
  • Ray LaHood (R-IL)
  • Mark Souder (R-IN)
  • John Hostettler (R-IN)
  • Tom Latham (R-IA)
  • Todd Tiahrt (R-KS)
  • Edward Whitfield (R-KY)
  • Gil Gutknecht (R-MN)
  • Roger Wicker (R-MS)
  • Charles Bass (R-NH)
  • Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ)
  • Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ)
  • Sue Kelly (R-NY)
  • Walter Jones (R-NC)
  • Sue Myrick (R-NC)
  • Steve Chabot (R-OH)
  • Steven LaTourette (R-OH)

  • Zach Wamp (R-TN)
  • Mac Thornberry (R-TX)
  • Tom Davis (R-VA)
