Random bits on the Foley Scandal this morning:
- San Francisco Chronicle: “In 1995, male House pages were warned to steer clear of a freshman Republican from Florida, who was already learning the names of the teens, dashing off notes, letters and e-mail to them and asking them to join him for ice cream, according to a former page.”
- The Detroit Free Press reports that Hastert isn’t planning to resign in the face of an editorial in the conservative Washington Times calling for him to step down. The Freep article includes a sidebar inviting folks to call the House at 202-225-3121, or to send a note to Congress at http://www.house.gov/writerep.
- According to the Seattle Times, Foley is blaming his fondness for teenaged boys to having been molested as a child and being a closet homosexual. I’d expect that within an hour or two, someone will point out that homosexuality is not an excuse for the active pursuit of pedophilia.
- I found out that my boss actually lives in Foley’s district. He wasn’t planning on voting for him anyway.
