As seen at Bloomberg:
St. Paul Travelers Cos., the second- largest commercial insurer in the U.S., denied a newspaper report that the company is in merger discussions with Zurich Financial Services AG.
The Swiss newspaper Cash reported earlier today that St. Paul, Minnesota-based company is in talks to buy Zurich and may announce a deal in November. The paper cited a person responsible for Zurich’s European operations, without identifying them.
I’ll admit that a busy couple of days at work had made me oblivious to the new merger rumors. However, I do find it odd that I encounter this new blurb so soon after a couple of fellow ex-Travelers coworkers and I were reminiscing about Jay Fishman’s international aspirations from back in the days when he was working within the Citigroup family.
