From the Douglas County News-Review:
Norma Garcia, senior attorney for the Consumers Union, which is behind Consumer Reports magazine, called Measure 42 “the first ballot initiative of its kind anywhere in the nation” and said it “will go a long way to protect insurance consumers in Oregon.”
Consumers Union, of course, has a bit of history in railing against credit scoring.
While I still (of course) think that credit scoring is a net good when it comes to insurance rating and pricing, some of the criticism Consumers Union lays on the industry isn’t entirely wrong. Insurers could stand to be a little more up font about their scoring philosophies and how credit is actually used.
A little sunlight never hurt anyone, folks.
