(Via Slashdot) Zatz Not Funny is reporting that Tivo has won a permanent injunction acainst Echostar (a.k.a. Dish Network) for infringing its DVR patent. E* is required to disable its DVRs in 30 days.
I love my Tivos, and given the business challenges that they’re facing, it’s good to see them come out on top in the case, especially since the DVRs they’re competing against are generally inferior. However, I’ve got to believe that the legions of Dish DVR users are not going to be happy with Tivo over the threat of losing their record/playback ability.
