Appeals Court Keeps Delay on the Ballot

It must be a really unfortunate feeling to learn that you’re going to be running for office, regardless of whether you actually wish to do so (CQ Politics article):

A federal appeals court ruling Thursday increased the odds that former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay will have to run this fall in an effort to retain the Republicans’ hold on Texas’ 22nd District - even though DeLay in April renounced the nomination he had won in a primary a month earlier and then resigned from Congress June 9 under a cloud of ethics controversies.

Texas Republican officials, however, announced immediately that they will appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.
