Madonna’s Virtual Boycott On American Radio (or, Why American Broadcast Radio Sucks)

Now, I’m not a huge Madonna fan, although when in the mood I appreciate her music and her ability to market/reinvent herself through her art. I’ve heard a few of her latest works on XM, but I will say that I was a little surprised to see this Reuters article on a virtual “Madonna boycott” on U.S. broadcast radio.

Madonna is in the midst of a sold-out North American trek that may end up being the top-grossing tour ever by a female artist. But this on-the-road success is not carrying over to American radio, which largely snubbed the first three singles from her latest album.[.]

Naturally, the disconnect has left executives at her Warner Bros. label

I’ve requested songs from this cd. I’ve heard them played all over the world, I believe this is true
