The Hartford Sells Omni

The Hartford Sells Omni

20 July 2006 · No Comments

As seen in the Courant:

The Hartford Financial Services Group said Wednesday it has sold an auto insurance unit for $100 million that covers drivers with poor driving records.

The Hartford said it sold its Omni Insurance Group to Independent Insurance Investments Inc., known as 4i’s. Omni also insures drivers with limited driving experience or whose prior coverage has lapsed.

Given the growth and reported success of the Hartford’s Dimensions program, this doesn’t seem to be too surprising. Mainstream insurers have, with their multi-multi-tier products, been gaining some comfort in the pricing/rating/underwriting of sub-standard customers.
