One additional thought. Much was said locally about how “unfair” it was that the town Republican committee launched a telephone campaign against the second proposed budget, when the Republican council members had voted for it.
I can’t help but note that we got calls from town Democrats and the Board of Education reminding us to vote for the budget today.
So.you aren’t allowed to lobby against a budget referendum anymore?

I wonder if the concern was the dissension between the Republican council members and the Republican committee; that is, that party discipline should not be broken?
