Third time’s the charm. The Windsor, Connecticut town budget passed 1994-1776, giving property owners a 1.5% tax hike, and shaving a handful of positions from the town employment rolls.
Sadly, the town council and board of education never seemed to get the message that the problem wasn’t necessarily that taxes were going up. Instead, I (and probably others) have little faith that our tax dollars are being spent wisely. For example, consider the ever-increasing school budget and seemingly ever-declining performance from those schools.
Oh well. Fiscal discipline from elected officials is too much to ask, I guess.
