The Times Picayune is carrying this story on the continuing aftermath of last year’s storms:
The Louisiana Department of Insurance will investigate the claims handling practices of Allstate Insurance Co. , Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corp. and St. Paul Travelers Cos. Inc. and may levy fines because of consumer complaints, the department said Wednesday.
These three companies had the highest number of complaints from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita compared with the amount of homeowners insurance business they do in Louisiana.
Department examiners will begin looking immediately at Allstate and St. Paul Travelers, and will look at Citizens after those investigations are completed. Other companies could be added to the list.
