From Access North Georgia:
A state representative from Athens hoping to make a run for the Senate filed papers in federal court Thursday, seeking to block a new Senate map that would divide her hometown — a Democratic stronghold — into two Republican-dominated districts.
It should be noted that this redistricting was made as a response to a court-drawn map used in prior elections, a justification for mid-decade redistricting that the Supreme Court seems to be tolerant of, based on discussions in the Texas case heard a few weeks ago.
The justification being used in the complaint and injunction request — that the population differences between districts in this map are greater than in the map that originally started the legal circus.
