Illinois Primary Today

21 March 2006 · No Comments

Primary season marches on today, with Illinois at the plate. Tom Goddard’s Political Wire offers a few races to watch, including this one that caught my eye:

Illinois Democrats in the state’s 6th District will render judgment Tuesday on the high-profile candidacy of Tammy Duckworth, who lost both her legs after the helicopter she piloted in Iraq was struck by a rocket-propelled grenate in November 2004. Duckworth, a first-time candidate who was recruited by prominent Democratic officeholders, faces technology consultant Christine Cegelis, the 2004 Democratic nominee for the seat and a favorite of some liberal groups, and college professor Lindy Scott. Republican state Sen. Peter Roskam is unopposed in the GOP primary. Veteran Republican Rep. Henry J. Hyde is retiring.
