Krispy Kreme Franchisee Sells Location to Dunkin Donuts

Krispy Kreme Franchisee Sells Location to Dunkin Donuts

2 February 2006 · No Comments

Oh, the heresy! I read this press release and wept:

Freedom Rings LLC, a bankrupt Krispy Kreme franchisee based in the Philadelphia region, has sold three of its properties for $1.2 million.

Freedom Rings, which is wholly owned by Winston-Salem-based Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. (NYSE: KKD - News), is selling one of its properties to a Dunkin’ Donuts Inc. franchisee, according to news Web site TheDeal.com.

I can accept, sadly, that even a business that sells the ambrosia that is Krispy Kreme can have a bad business plan and fail. But for a Krispy Kreme to be turned into that monstrosity that is Dunkin Donuts?! Sacrilege, I cry…Sacrilege!
