Well, apparently support for a filibuster on Alito was weaker than some folks thought:
By a 72-25 vote, the Senate cut off a symbolic filibuster attempt today on the Supreme Court nomination of Samuel A. Alito Jr., all but assuring that the federal appeals court judge will be confirmed Tuesday morning by the Senate.
Ah well. So much for pre State of the Union congressional entertainment. However, I did see a good quote from Senator Chafee (R-RI) amidst all the rhetoric:
I am a pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-Bill of Rights Republican, and I will be voting against this nomination.
