Mercury General’s ballot initiative

Mercury General’s ballot initiative

7 January 2006 · No Comments

When I saw this, I initially couldn’t believe it:

The head of Mercury Insurance reportedly is trying to get an initiative on the November election ballot that would undo new auto insurance reforms and reduce the state’s ability to regulate the industry.

Knee-jerk reaction: Who is going to vote for an initiative to reduce regulation of personal auto rates.

Answer to knee-jerk reaction: The suburban and rural voters who stand to see rate increases should Garamendi’s plans move ahead.

California is always such a fun political arena to watch!
