I forgot to tote my XM receiver down to the car when I made my lunchtime errand-run this afternoon. As a result, I caught a bit of the Rush Limbaugh show on the radio while out hunting innocent carrots to slay in my quest for sustenance.
The guest-host for today’s RL broadcast spent part of the time opining that last night’s execution of Tookie Williams was justice being served.
I couldn’t help but wonder….weren’t folks of a similar political focus as Rush Limbaugh’ advocating not pulling the plug on Terri Schiavo earlier this year because of the immorality of playing God and taking a life.
Similarly, folks on the opposite side of the political spectrum offer up seemingly conflicting opinions on being anti-death penalty and pro-pulling-the-plug.
Am I the only person annoyed by the apparent hypocrisy in both pairs of positions?
Yes, I’m quite aware that there are piles upon piles of explanations of how either pair is not inconsistent, and why one pair is better than another. I just wonder how many people who claim to hold one pair or the other have actually thought their reasoning through….
