>From the Miami
Herald:
The increases for windstorm coverage in Miami-Dade County range
from 32.8 percent to 63.3 percent, depending on a home’s location. The
biggest hike is set for coastal Northeast Miami-Dade, bordering Biscayne Bay
from Aventura to downtown Miami.Broward homeowners living in the coastal section of the county, west of
the Intercoastal Waterway, could see a 67.2 percent hike. East of the
Intercoastal a 39.5 percent increase is proposed; 48.2 percent for West
Broward.
Ouch!
Another Herald blurb summarizes the “fun” in store for Florida home owners:
- 15.9 percent — statewide
average increase for the first part of a two-part rate increase for Citizens
windstorm insurance. It will be higher in parts of South Florida.- 44 percent — statewide average increase for
the second portion; also higher in parts of South Florida.- 6.8 percent assessment to cover Citizens’ 2004
shortfall; all policyholders in the state will be charged.- Possible 11 percent assessment to cover the
2005 deficit; all policyholders in the state will be
charged.
Again, I say, Ouch!
