Seen on Yahoo: Feds Win Right to War Protesters’ Records
In fairness, the article seems to present only one side of the story, but if true, that side is rather troubling.
A grand jury has subpoenaed leaders of a training session held prior to an anti-war protest, and has subpoenaed a college’s records that may identify attendees of that training session. Ostensibly, this is to provide additional information about an alleged assault on a security officer during the protest (the alleged assailant says she just went limp).
The article also cites speculation that this may be an echo of a Vietnam War era tactic to intimidate peace activists.
Yeah, this is going to help my cynicism towards the Geheimstaatspolizei…er, the Department of Homeland Security.
