The AP has an article today entitled O’Malley urges Catholic lawyers to oppose gay marriage.
Blurbs like this remind me of one argument that I have been disappointed to not hear being used:
Many people believe that marriage is a religious sacrament. A subset of those people also believe that marriage should not be restricted based on the plumbing of the spouses.
Therefore, isn’t the government’s claim that marriage is restricted to heterosexual couples an imposition on the religious beliefs of a group of citizens?
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: the gummit needs to get out of the business of marrying people. Those who have been joined by the grace of the Divine should not be pulled asunder by brownshirted bureaucrats.
